Dorrab - 117 Etudes For Santour/Santoor - For Beginner to Advanced Santour Students by Sourena Sefati
The book "Dorrab" (Vol. I) comprises one hundred and seventeen etudes divided into nine independent sections for the Santour. These sections include etudes covering single-hand exercises (right and left hands separately), tremolos, passages, arpeggios, double-mallet (mezrab), two-right & two-left, arpeggio-double mallet, reversed Dorrab (Dorrab-left), and counterpoint. In this manner, efforts have been made to provide suitable exercises for all technical dimensions of this instrument. All etudes are notated in the Shur scale in G, ensuring that the performer does not need to alter the instrument's tuning for different sections of the book. For performing the etudes in the book, a specific speed or tempo is not essential. It is recommended to use a metronome for each etude, allowing the performer to execute the piece with greater precision and focus while maintaining control over accuracy and speed at each stage.
